Shannon’s 4 Week Challenge
At Kate Campbell Fitness, we’re always encouraging our members to push themselves, set goals, and celebrate progress — no matter how big or small. So when we launched our 4-week staff physique challenge, I knew it was time to walk the talk. What I didn’t realise at the time was just how impactful these four weeks would be on my mindset and motivation.
The challenge came at the perfect time. This challenge gave me a reason to re-focus, reconnect with my own goals, and prove to myself that I could still make a shift when I committed.
I started with one simple, measurable goal: 7,000 steps a day. That might not sound like a huge number to some, but for me, it was about building consistency and adding a layer of non-negotiable movement to my routine. I knew previously I was averaging around 5,000 steps a day. I felt trying to hit 10,000 a day would be unrealistic for me. 7,000 was do-able and still ensured I moved more. What I found was once I hit 7,000 consistently I started hitting 10,000 without even trying. I found a path near the back of my house and mapped out a mile and a half circuit I knew I could use if I needed a few extra steps in a day!
I ate healthier meals and made sure I was accountable for the calories going into my body.
Having the strength workouts to follow along with on the app motivated me. I found I was able to add 2 sessions on top of what I was routinely doing already. Seeing what other staff members were getting on with was inspiring an extra push to contribute within the group.
By the end of the four weeks, the results spoke for themselves. I lost 7 pounds, reduced my body fat percentage by 2.4%, and dropped a total of 13cm across key areas of my body. But more importantly than the numbers? I felt clearer, more energetic, and in a better mind space.
The biggest takeaway? After seeing the progress photos, it gave me confidence that simple solutions do work that I did not have to make an extreme change to make a difference but being consistent was key. This has given me the motivation to challenge myself to be consistent over a year and see what the outcome is.
To anyone thinking about starting a challenge or setting a personal goal — start small, stay consistent, and celebrate every win along the way. You never know what four weeks might bring.
