I decided that I needed to get into shape as the size 14 jeans I had bought because my size 12’s were getting too tight were now themselves getting snug! I needed motivation to get back to the gym and didn’t want a repeat of 10 years ago when I paid for 12 months’ membership and only went a handful of times (I did get a free’ towel though!!!) I therefore had in my mind that I wanted a large local gym with lots of classes, a spa and a personal trainer on speed dial! I went to look around Virgin Active and was so disillusioned when I left as it turned out to be everything I didn’t want in a gym.... busy, impersonal, lots of older blokes hogging the hot tub, a battle to get the right PT slot etc... I then went to Graves but that didn’t float my boat either. One evening, after going for yet another meal at Miller & Carter (one of the reasons I needed a gym!), I peered into Kate’s gym. I phoned the next day and made an appointment to see Kate. I instantly knew I had found the right gym. Kate herself was welcoming, friendly, listened to my ‘wants’ and knew exactly what I needed to kickstart my new fitness regime. I signed up there and then to the six week ‘Focus and Shred’ programme and haven’t looked back.
By following Kate’s dietary advice (including logging all meals on My Fitness Pal), attending two PTsessions per week, using my fitness equipment at home at least twice a week (for its intended purpose rather than as a clothes horse!) and attending one class per week at the gym I saw almost instant results. I liked how Kate pushes you at the PT session but I never felt uncomfortable or pushed to my limits. By the end of the six weeks I had lost 11 pounds, reduced my Body fat % by 4.7% and lost a total of 16.5cm from my body
Family and friends commented on how well I looked and my husband was astounded at how quickly my waist in particular had slimmed down. In just 6 weeks I was back in my size 12 jeans (yeh!)! I knew though that I didn't want to stop there so I signed up to a 12 month Gold membership so I could continue seeing Kate each week for our PT sessions. Xmas and a holiday at New Year have somewhat made me slip back into some old habits but because of Kate’s motivation and support I am looking forward to getting fully back into the program in the new year.
