How To Cut Down On Drinking And Get Rid Of Your Beer Belly!

The reason many people say they have a beer belly is because they over-consume alcohol which has a lot of calories.

In your average beer there is around 200 calories and roughly 100 calories in most spirits.

Men also tend to gain weight more rapidly in their midsection than anywhere else. Weak abdominal muscles combined with extra mass within the abdomen pushing outward results in the rotund beer belly look for men.

A trip to the pub could easily see four or five pints being drunk which is around 1000 calories. Add food on top and you could be talking 2000 calories from one visit to the pub.

How can you get rid of your beer belly? Well, the obvious answer would be to say stop drinking alcohol. However, you can enjoy a trip to the pub or a night out and still lose weight.

Some things you can try are:

1.     Tracking you daily/weekly calorie intake

This can help you see exactly what you’re eating on a day-to-day basis and help you understand how many calories you can have in order to lose weight if that is your goal. Once you have been tracking a while and you have lost the weight you will most likely have a better understanding of food, make better choices and become more accountable overall.

2.     Fasting

There’s no magic wand with fasting as some people may say but it can be an effective way to put you in a calorie deficit.

3.     Limiting the amount you can drink while you’re out

If you set out to only have a couple of beers or drinks while you’re out that could help limit the amount of calories you consume, especially if you go drinking more than once a week. Also drink soft drinks in between.

4.     Try going sober

Just like ‘Go Sober for October or dry January ’ encourages you to stop drinking for a month, going sober for a long duration can help you have a different outlook on alcohol intake. It will most likely help you feel better overall, in terms of physical and mental health. No more hangovers!

Try giving these a go if you feel like you want to lose a bit of weight due to having a few too many drinks.

Taking up exercise and supplementing your fitness routine will give you new goals to work towards and will aid in weight loss and boost your overall health.

Here at Kate Campbell Fitness we can devise you a fitness program and you’ll soon see all the benefits that exercise brings on top of cutting down on drinking.
