Cardio For Weight Loss

Walking for weight loss is a very underrated exercise. There are a few reasons for this. Walking doesn’t deplete your glycogen stores anywhere near as high intensity. This means that you won't be hungry or as hungry as you would be with another high intensity exercise; therefore, it will be easier to stick to your caloric deficit. Walking is going to be easier to stick to due to it being relatively easy, meaning we will be more likely to stick to it. In addition to this, walking is a low-impact exercise (meaning it is generally inclusive for everyone).

However, we don’t all have the time to be walking for an hour each day. So if we are short for time higher intensity exercise has to be the go to.  I personally don’t believe exercise selection makes a huge difference if the intensity is high. There isn’t a specific exercise that will burn significantly more calories than another, given the same amount of effort and intensity.

Therefore, I would always choose an exercise which you enjoy and doesn’t cause you any pain, whether that be a HIIT class, an accumulator or a cardio machine.
