Keigley Beats postnatal depression
Why did you chose KCF?
After looking at a number of postnatal exercise classes in the area, I chose Kate Campbell fitness as there’s nothing else around that comes close. With Kates wealth of knowledge in female fitness and the expertise she has from being a midwife, I knew I’d be in safe hands. The fact that babies are welcome at the gym too really was a no brainier!
How’s it going so far?
I started the postnatal foundation course when Leo was 6 weeks old. I’d been diagnosed with postnatal depression and knew that I needed to do something that was for me and invest in myself. Fast forward 6 months, I've lost over 45lbs, can lift heavy weights, and my mental health has never been better. I love my weekly PT sessions with Kate, she encourages me to stay on track with my nutrition, pushes me physically to achieve results and of course gives Leo lots of cuddles.
Why would you recommend KCF?
I’d recommend KCF to all new mums (in fact anyone!), the results I’ve achieved and confidence I now have in myself have far surpassed my expectations thanks to Kate exper’s expert guidance. From the warm welcome the minute you step through the door, to the one-to-one support, you truly feel cared for by every member of the team.
Keighley, thank you for sharing your story. I am so incredibly proud of all that you have achieved.
Physically, your transformation is incredible, but what’s even more powerful is how you mentally faced postnatal depression head-on with grit and determination to be the best version of yourself, and you smashed it!
Many new mums suffer in silence, and I know your story will resonate with someone reading this today and provide hope.
Strength training offers significant benefits for alleviating postnatal depression by enhancing both physical and emotional well-being
1. Endorphin Release: Strength training triggers the release of endorphins, which can improve mood and reduce stress.
2. Boosted Self-Esteem: As new mums gain strength and improve their body composition, their self-esteem and body image improve, which is positive reinforcement that the hard work and effort they are committing to is worth it.
3. Routine and Structure: Creating a consistent strength training schedule offers mums a sense of order and predictability.
4. Social Support: Group workouts like our Postnatal Foundation course can help new mums connect with others, combating feelings of isolation and creating a supportive community.
5. Mindfulness: The focus required during strength training and core restore exercises promotes mind and body connection, helping reduce anxiety and enhance relaxation.
6. Physical Health: All of my mums have shared how much more energy they have and how their sleep has improved thanks to physical activity. It really helps to lift their mood and brighten their outlook!
Overall, strength training is a valuable tool for new mothers in managing postnatal depression.
